Rudolf Hacke

Rudolf Hacke (born July 24, 1881 in Berlin , † February 16, 1953 in Stadtlohn , Münsterland ) was a German painter , graphic artist and illustrator .

Life

First he studied at the Berlin Art Academy , later at the Dresden Art Academy in the master class with Eugen Bracht . After his military service, he resumed his studies in Berlin and studied with Carl Saltzmann , Albert Hertel and Ulrich Hübner . From 1910 he took part in exhibitions.

In 1913, the book Die Mark Brandenburg in Farbenphotographie , together with the photographs by Rudolf Hacke created together with the photo chemist Julius Hollos , contained the earliest color photographs from Berlin and the Mark Brandenburg .

After the First World War he settled in Lower Silesia , first in Alt Schönau, then in Schönau an der Katzbach . From 1920 until his escape in 1945 he lived in Seitendorf (now Mysłów ). His friend, the landscape painter Otto Altenkirch, also visited him there .

Hacke went on art trips to Italy , Finland and South Tyrol . He painted landscapes, marine scenes , portraits and nudes . In addition, he created a number of copper engravings . He was a member of the " Artists Association of Silesia ".
