Ulrich Hübner (painter)
Ulrich Hübner (born June 17, 1872 in Berlin ; † April 29, 1932 in Neubabelsberg ) was a German impressionist painter .
Life
Hübner came from a family of artists and scientists. His father was the classical philologist Emil Hübner , son of the painter and gallery director Julius Huebner and his wife Pauline , a sister of the painter Eduard Bendemann . Hübner received his academic training from 1892, initially in Karlsruhe with Robert Poetzelberger , Gustav Schönleber and Carlos Grethe . He then returned to Berlin and continued his studies at the private painting school Conrad Fehrs . In 1899, Hübner became a member of the Berlin Secessionand was a member of its board in 1906 and 1907. As early as 1905 he was one of the Villa Romana's first laureates . In the same year he was a prize winner in a competition for advertising designs for joint advertising by Ludwig Stollwerck and Otto Henkell . Other award winners were the artists Julius Diez , Eugen Kirchner, Friedrich Stahl, Albert Klingner, Ludwig Hohlwein , Fritz Klee, Bernhard Halbreiter, Elly Hirsch, Anton Kerschbaumer , Johann Baptist Maier , Georg v. Kürthy, Fritz Helmuth Ehmcke , Paul Leuteritz, Otto Kleinschmidt , Anton Hoffmann, Otto Ludwig Naegele , Peter Würth, Ernst Oppler , A. Altschul, Ant. Jos. Pepins and August Geigenberger. He painted in Berlin, in Havelland and in the summers in Hamburg , Lübeck , Warnemünde and Travemünde (there he had his main residence between 1909 and 1912), especially many port pictures.
Some of his works are in the possession of the Behnhaus in Lübeck. His brother, Heinrich Hübner , also worked as a painter. Both were members of the German Association of Artists .
