Mordechai Rachamim

Mordechai Rachamim (born April 1, 1946 in Iraq ) is an Israeli flight security attendant who shot and killed Abdel Mohsen Hassan from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the attack in Kloten on February 18, 1969 . He was acquitted in a spectacular trial before the jury in Winterthur .

Rachamim was trained as a paratrooper sergeant in Israel . During the trial he was defended by Georges Brunschvig . After four weeks of pre - trial detention , Rachamim was given a guarantee by the State of Israel, the accused's word of honor that he would make himself available to the Swiss authorities at any time, and a bail in the amount of 100,000 Swiss francs (then approx '000 Deutsche Mark ) released by the Swiss authorities. Upon his return, Rachamim received a heroic reception in Jerusalem and Prime Minister Golda Meir appointed him her personal security officer. The case was described as a scandal in Arab countries and strained diplomatic relations with Switzerland.
