Mordialloc is a suburb of Melbourne . It is located approx. 24 km southeast of the city center. The name is derived from the Aboriginal language and means "little lake" or "little stream". The Mordialloc Creek runs through the district .
history
The area was inhabited by a settler named McDonald in the 1840s. A street is named after this today. In the first decades the inhabitants lived mainly from fishing. In 1863 a post office was opened in the area. In 1881 a rail link to Melbourne was established.
