Mordicus was a Finnish death 'n' roll and death metal band from Joensuu that was formed in 1990 and disbanded in 2000.

history

The band was formed in 1990. Together they developed the first songs and recorded the first demo Abominations of the Earth in early 1991, which was followed by the recording of the second demo Grown Under Shade of Sorrow in June . As a result, the band reached a contract with Skindrill Records , about which the band released the EP Three Way Dissection in 1992. For this release, three songs from Grown Under Shade of Sorrow were remixed, as Robert Arpo could now be heard as the new singer. In 1992 a promo demo appeared, whereby the band reached a contract with Thrash Records . Her debut album Dances from Left was released on this label in 1993. The album was recorded at Tico-Tico Studios under the direction of Ahti Kortelainen . In 1992 Wild Rags Records released the promo demo under the name Wrathorn as an EP.

In 1994 Aapi joined the band as the new bass player, so that Arpo, who had previously also played the bass, could now concentrate fully on the vocals. In 1995 the first demo with this new line-up was recorded. Towards the end of 1999 the band recorded 15 songs that were intended for a second album. The album was mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki . The release was postponed several times, so the band broke up in 2000 before the album could be released. In 2006 Temple of Darkness Records released the album Dances from Left again, including bonus songs from previous demos, as well as from the EP Three Way Dissection .

style

In their early days they played a mixture of Death Metal and Grindcore , with the music being comparable to that of Carcass . The later works are a mix of classic Death Metal and Death 'n' Roll, with the works being similar to pieces by Entombed and Dismember .
