The murder stones in the Bielefeld district of Sennestadt are two atonement stones and a listed building .

location

The stones are located on a side street of the Senner Hellweg in the immediate vicinity of the Frieda-Nadig-Haus , a senior citizen center . They are located in the woods to the northwest on a footpath to the sports field. Originally they were on the site of the adjacent Nadighaus. When they were erected, the stones stood in an open heathland and formed a striking monument. In 2012 they were surrounded by a sandstone circle by the Sennestadtverein . In 2014 the association added an information board.

history

The sandstone stones are reminiscent of a murder in 1660. A dragoon named Lorentz von Siburg ( Tambour ), therefore probably a drummer, wanted to evade Prussian military service and fled from the Sparrenburg with his wife Maria and his six-month-old daughter Maria Helena in the direction of Lippe , i.e. the neighboring foreign country at the time. Shortly before reaching the border, he killed his family, presumably because of an argument about how to get there or because the child's screaming betrayed the desertion . The stones were erected in memory of the deed and as a warning. Possibly also to clarify normative principles in the period after the Thirty Years War .

Inscriptions

The inscriptions on the killing stones provide information about the deed and the names. They are preserved through records from 1688 and some of them can also be read directly on the stone. The damaged stone today contributed and following lines and is the murder of the woman ( lat. Uxor dedicated, where the first row on the front, the other can be found on the back of wife):

UXOR MARIA TAMBOUR 1660
O MAN SHE AT THE GREAT THAT
HOW ME MURDERED MY MAN
WITH MY CHILD OF HALF YEAR
WAS BORED FROM HIS FLESH. 1660

The other murder stone, dedicated to the daughter (lat. Filia daughter), bore this inscription, again found and is the first line on the front.

FILIA MARIA HELENA
LORENTZ FROM SIBERG A DRAGONER.
Oh, father! HOW TO SORRY YOUR HEART
THAT YOU DID cut off my neck
and gave me a cruel
unheard-of murder on that ear.
ANNO 1660

Today's lettering on the back of the daughter stone is different. This difference may be due to the fact that the scriptures were renewed in 1688. This would also explain why they were written down.

Oh, how much you heartache because you cut my neck
off
and committed
such a cruel unheard-of on me on this order.
ANNO 1660
