Moritz Peters (born July 20, 1981 in New Haven , Connecticut ) is a German theater director and actor.

After studying acting at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts , Moritz Peters was a member of the ensemble at schauspielfrankfurt from 2005 to 2009 , and at the Zimmertheater Tübingen from 2009 to 2010 .

He worked with Simon Solberg , Armin Petras , Alvis Hermanis and Martin Nimz , among others . The production "Don Quijote" (role: Sancho Pansa // director: Simon Solberg) from schauspielfrankfurt was invited to the " Radikal Jung " festival in 2008 and was awarded the critics' prize.

Moritz Peters has worked as a director since 2010 and staged at the Schauspiel Essen , Staatstheater Cottbus , Rheinisches Landestheater Neuss , Theater Münster , the Burghofbühne Dinslaken and the Zimmertheater Tübingen.

His productions are characterized by a great strictness of form and linguistic accuracy with at the same time high poetic visual power.

His staging of Franz Kafka's "The Trial" by the Schauspiel Essen was invited to the NRW Theatertreffen in 2014. In addition, he was named "Young Director of the Year" in Theater Heute .

Moritz Peters lives in Essen and is in a relationship with the actress Claudia Hübschmann .
