Various Mormyshkas

As mormyshka refers to the shape of a fishing lure when ice fishing that mainly in countries of the CIS is used.

In this fishing lure in its simplest form, a lead shot is attached to the hook shank of a very small fishing hook. Alternatively, imitations of small aquatic insects are used. The fish are attracted by vertical up and down movements of the bait.

The aim of this angling method is to catch mostly white fish or perch despite the hibernation . Larger catches as well as the catch of large predatory fish are rather the exception with this fishing method.
