Morpho polyphemus (English White Morpho = "White Morphofalter") is a butterfly (day butterfly ) from the noble butterfly family(Nymphalidae).
description
The moths reach a wingspan of up to 14 cm. In contrast to most other species of the genus Morpho , they do not have a blue but a white basic color, which is only interrupted by a few black-brown spots, including the upper wing tips, the spots in the middle of the upper wings and the translucent row of eye spots on the edge of the Lower wing.
Occurrence
M. polyphemus occurs in Central America. The southern limit of distribution is Costa Rica , the northern Mexico .
biology
The caterpillars eat plants from the genus Inga and Paullinia pinnata .
