Morris Hood III

Morris Hood III (* 21st May 1965 ; † 12. May 2020 ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . He was both a member of the Michigan House of Representatives and then a Senator in the Michigan Senate .

Life

Morris Hood came from a politically active family. His grandfather, Morris Hood Sr., was a politician in the 1950s and 1960s, and his father, Morris Hood Jr., was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives until his death in 1998.

Hood began his career working in an engine factory in Dearborn . Here he was unionized and was inspired to run for election to the Michigan House of Representatives. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2008. Among other things, he was chairman of the Joint Capital Outlay Committee . He was then a Senator from 2011 to 2018 and represented the 3rd District (Northwest Detroit , Dearborn and Melvindale ) in the Senate of his state. As a member of parliament, he was known for being able to objectify and cool heated debates.

He ended up working for the Wayne County Administration . He died of complications from COVID-19 at the age of 54 .
