Morris Kallon

Morris Kallon (born January 1, 1964 in Bo ) is a former paramilitary commander of the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) in Sierra Leone . He is one of only three RUF leaders in the Sierra Leone civil war held responsible for his war crimes .

Kallon held high-ranking positions in the RUF from 1992 to 2002.

On March 7, 2003, Kallon was arrested and from July 5, 2004 he had to appear before the Special Court for Sierra Leone together with Augustine Gbao and Issa Sesay . On February 25, 2009, Kallon was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity on 16 of the 18 counts . He was sentenced to 40 years in prison in Mpanga Prison in Rwanda .
