City name

The name of the city goes back to a historical event. An elephant was killed near the city. The meat was later distributed to all the villagers in the area by the hunters. The words Bo-lor (in Mende ) were used and stand for "this is yours". The city council then named the place Bo. Nowadays, Bo-lor also stands for "this is Bo".

education

Njala University College has a campus in Bo in addition to the temporary main campus in Freetown (actually in the village of Njala). Similar to a German university of applied sciences , technical and practical subjects such as agriculture and technology are taught here.
