Bo is a district of Sierra Leone with around 575,000 inhabitants (as of 2020). It belongs to the Southern Province and is located in the southern center of the country. Its capital is Bo . The district is divided into 15 chiefdoms (chiefdoms) and the city of Bo.

Bo covers an area of ​​5219 square kilometers.

The inhabitants of the Bo district belong mainly to the ethnic groups of the Mende and Temne ; both Christians and Muslims are represented here. The economy consists of trade, gold and diamond mining, rice cultivation, coffee, cocoa and palm oil production.

During the civil war in Sierra Leone from 1994–1995, Bo was under the control of the Revolutionary United Front rebels. During this time there was great destruction to cities like Tikonko and Bumpeh . However, after the rebels were ousted from the district in 1999, the situation calmed down and internally displaced people from other parts of the country came to Bo. Reconstruction is relatively far advanced.

In 2006 the district had 88 health facilities, including a state hospital, a state clinic, a missionary hospital, seven missionary, three NGO and five private clinics. In 2005 1.9% of the residents were HIV positive. In 2004/2005 there were 396 primary and 37 secondary schools. The literacy rate in 2004 was 64% for the city of Bo (74% for men and 55% for women) and 29% for the rest of the district (40% for men, 19% for women). 64.2% of the children in the city and 50.5% in the rest of the district attended school.
