The North West Province , also North Western Province , ( German Northwest Province ) comprises the northwest of the West African state of Sierra Leone . The province was separated from the Northern Province in 2017 and comprises the three districts of Kambia , Karene and Port Loko with a total of 34 chiefdoms.
The province has 1,162,065 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Mamamah International Airport, an international airport, was to be built in the province in 2018 .
