The Morris rock is a rock island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In the group of the Aitcho Islands it is 3 km west of Fort William .
In 1935, participants in the British Discovery Investigations named Cape Morris to the western edge of Robert Island , now known as Fort William . For reasons of continuity, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred this designation to the island described here in 1961. It is named after Alfred Morris (1890 - unknown), draftsman in the hydrographic office of the British Admiralty .
