Moscow Society of Naturalists
The Moscow Society of Naturalists ( Russian: Московское общество испытателей природы , MOIP) is a natural history society located at Lomonosov University .
history
The society was founded in 1805 by the Russian minister Count Alexei Kirillowitsch Rasumowski (1748-1822), who was the first president, Mikhail Nikititj Muravjow (1757-1807) and 23 other scientists. Among them was the German doctor Heinrich Martius , who later became Razumovsky's personal doctor . The scientists Gotthelf Fischer von Waldheim (long vice-president) and the botanist Georg Franz Hoffmann, who has just arrived from Germany, were also involved in the establishment .
From 1807 to 1917, the company added the name Imperial (Société Impériale des Naturalistes de Moscou). From 1826 her Bulletin de la Société Impériale des Naturalistes de Moscou appeared . You were involved in the establishment of the Zoological Garden in Moscow and in the management of the University's Zoological Museum (until its independence in 1861), the Polytechnic Museum and the University Herbarium. Since they are affiliated with the university, many of its professors were members. There were also offshoots in many other larger cities in Russia.
