history

The Motion TM Vertriebs GmbH was created by Ümit Akbulut and Bülent Karsli, who founded an online shop for mobile phones under the brand fonmarkt.de during their law studies in Osnabrück. The first form of company in 2001 was a civil law company (Akbulut-Karsli GbR). In 2003 Akbulut and Karsli founded Motion TM Vertriebs GmbH with three other participants (Hendrik Wehmeyer, Bülent Celik, Stefan Lange - today's managing director). The new seat was Cologne; the brand world was expanded to include the brands handytick.de, fonmarkt.de, fonmarkt.at, mediaversand.de.

In 2009 the company from Cologne moved into its own property in Troisdorf. The number of employees grew to 25.

Volume marketing via the Internet opened up further sales channels, so that in 2009 the online distribution called MOON ( MO TION ON LINE) was developed for specialist mobile phone retailers. An online portal which offers local marketing for mobile phone retailers directly at the PoS (Point of Sale) and which greatly simplifies processing.

From the procurement of goods, a mobile phone hardware distribution emerged specifically for bulk buyers and other distributors, which today serves major customers in the German mobile phone business.

In 2013, Mobilcom-Debitel took a stake in the Troisdorf company and acquired 51 percent of the shares. Despite the participation, the company will continue to be managed by the founders and independently offer all products of the German mobile communications market.

The Motion TM Vertriebs GmbH sold around 400,000 mobile phones in 2014 and generated annual sales of EUR 175 million in 2014.
