The Motodrom Half Moon is a stadium in the field of community Halbemond ( Samtgemeinde Hage in the district of Aurich , East Friesland ), in the motorcycle - Speedway races are held.

The stadium holds 34,000 spectators with 30,000 standing and 4,000 seats. This makes the Motodrom Halbemond by far the largest stadium in East Friesland and the largest pure speedway stadium in Europe.

The Motodrom is located on an area of seven hectares that belongs to the "MC Norden". The speedway track is 396 meters long and 12 meters wide on the straights. The curve widths are 16 meters. This makes the racetrack one of the fastest in the world. The track is bordered by a 1.20 meter high wooden board. It has existed in its current form since 1983, when it was expanded specifically to host the 1983 Speedway World Final. The German motor sportsman Egon Müller was able to use the home advantage on September 4, 1983 and was the first and so far only German to achieve the title of speedway world champion.

Since there were no further German successes, public interest in speedwaysport in Germany also waned, which is why the Motodrom was idle for years. Since the turn of the millennium, speedway races have taken place regularly again, including international competitions and special runs for the German Speedway Championship. In 2005 MC Norden even provided a speedway team that took part in the races of the 2nd Speedway Bundesliga Group North. In 2008, for the first time in 25 years, a World Championship run took place in the Motodrom as part of the Junior World Championship. In the 2015 season, MC Norden placed a team in the 1st Speedway Bundesliga under the name Norden-Haie . Since then, the club has held championships and cup competitions in the Motodrom.
