The moth Tüschenbroich is an Outbound Turmhügelburg (Motte) in Wegberger district Tüschenbroich in Kreis Heinsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia .

In the middle of the pond of the Tüschenbroich Castle is the tree-covered moth - originally the main castle of the outer bailey island built over with the castle .

To explain: moths (from the French moth = lump, sod, plaice) were a common form of castles in the High Middle Ages, wherever natural stone was in short supply but a natural abundance of water could provide protection.

Contrary to outdated theories of local history research, early foundations between the Meuse and the Rhine are guaranteed in the 12th century.

The original castle complex, of which there are still remains of walls and a cellar vault on the Motte, was destroyed in the Thirty Years War. It is a listed ground monument.
