Mount Axtell is a low, yet recognizable mountain peak in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 2.5 km southeast of Mount Tidd in the Pirrit Hills from the surrounding Antarctic continental ice.
His position was determined on December 7, 1958 by the US Ellsworth-Byrd Traverse Party and he was named after William R. Axtell Jr. (1924-1974), cook at Ellsworth Station and member of this team.
