At 820 meters, Mount Carleton is the highest point in Canada's maritime provinces . The mountain was named after Thomas Carleton , the first lieutenant governor of the British colony of New Brunswick .
The mountain is located in the 17,000 hectare Mount Carleton Provincial Park . Paths and circular hiking trails with a total length of more than 60 km lead through a pristine wilderness landscape of mountains, valleys and rivers.
