Mount Carlisle is a volcano in the Aleutian Islands - island arc in Alaska . The mountain forms the island of the same name Carlisle Island ( Aleutian name: Kigalĝa ), which belongs to the Islands of Four Mountains .
Although the stratovolcano is not particularly high at 1620 m , a glacier covers a small area below the western rim of the crater .
activity
Several outbreaks have been documented. However, it cannot be ruled out that several eruptions of the nearby volcanoes were wrongly attributed to Mount Carlisle, especially a long time ago. Due to the remoteness, observations of ash clouds made from a greater distance cannot be reliably assigned.
