The uninhabited volcanic island Carlisle Iceland ( aleutian : Kigalĝa ) is one of the Islands of Four Mountains , a group of islands in the eastern part of the Aleutian Islands . Politically, it belongs to the US state of Alaska .
The circular island with a diameter of 6.5 kilometers is dominated by the 1620 meter high shield volcano Mount Carlisle . The island is separated from the southeastern Chuginadak Island by a three-kilometer-wide strait, the Carlisle Pass . Herbert Island is nine kilometers to the southwest .
