Mount Cavaney is a 2820 m high mountain in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Deep Freeze Range, it rises just north of the head end of the Capsize Glacier .
The northern group of the 1965-1966 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named him after Roderick John Cavaney, a geologist on the team.
