The Mount Diffenbach (Hemokawa) is a 134 meter high elevation in the north of the New Zealand Chathaminsel . Originally the elevation was named Mount Diffenbach by the European settlers after the naturalist Ernst Dieffenbach who worked on the Chatham Islands . In 1982 the mountain received its double name, in which the name in the language of the Moriori original population, Hemokawa, was added to the English name in brackets.
