Mount Lockhart is a 952 m high mountain in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It rises 6 km north of Mount Avers as a striking elevation from the main massif of the Fosdick Mountains in the Ford Ranges .
It was discovered during an overflight on December 5, 1929 during the first Antarctic expedition (1928–1930) of the US polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd . Namesake is Ernest Earl Lockhart (1912-2006), physiologist on the west base in the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941), during which he was part of a biological team that explored the area around the mountain in 1940.
