Mount Moses is a heavily eroded Miocene stratovolcano in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It lies roughly in the center of the Hudson Mountains and, with a height of 749 m, forms its highest and most clearly protruding elevation from the surrounding ice sheet .
The mountain was mapped using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy as part of Operation Highjump 1946–1947. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after Robert L. Moses, a scientist who worked at Byrd Station in 1967 .
