Mount Munson is a 2800 m high mountain in the Ross Dependency of Antarctica . It rises 3 miles northwest of the summit of Mount Wade in the Prince Olav Mountains .
The American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd discovered him in November 1929 on a flight over the Queen Maud Mountains . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1962 after Captain William Harvey Munson of the United States Navy , commanding officer of the VX-6 squadron between 1959 and 1961.
