Coordinates: 32 ° 50 ′  S , 138 ° 11 ′  E The District Council of Mount Remarkable is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 3,425 km² and has about 2900 inhabitants (2016).

Mount Remarkable is located in the Northern Region about 150 miles north of the metropolis of Adelaide at the northeast end of the Spencer Gulf . The area around Mount Remarkable forms the southern part of the Flinders Range . The LGA comprises 23 districts and localities: Appila, Bangor, Baroota, Booleroo Center, Booleroo Whim, Bruce, Charlton, Hammond, Mambray Creek, Melrose, Moockra, Murraytown, Nectar Brook, Port Flinders, Port Germein, Telowie, Terka, Willowie, Wilmington, Winninowie, Wirrabara, Wongyarra and Yandiah. The administrative headquarters of the council is in Melrose in the center of the LGA, where about 350 residents live (2016).

The Mount Remarkable Council has seven members elected by the residents of the four wards (two each from Coastal, Plains and Ranges Ward, one from Forest Ward). These four districts are defined independently of the districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
