The Mount Seymour is a 1,449 m high mountain in the Canadian province of British Columbia , in Mount Seymour Provincial Park .
It is located around 15 kilometers north of Vancouver , between the Seymour River and the Indian Arm .
Within the Pacific Ranges , the mountain belongs to the North Shore Mountains and, together with the neighboring mountains Mount Bishop and Mount Elsay, in turn forms the Fannin Range . Its first ascent took place on August 16, 1908 by a rope team from the BC Mountaineering Club .
The mountain is named after Frederick Seymour , who served as the second governor of the colony of British Columbia from 1864 to 1866 and then the first governor of the United Colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia until his death in 1869 .
The mountain is a very popular hiking, climbing and skiing area.
