Mount Umbriel is a 1500 m (according to British data 1350 m ) high mountain in the eastern part of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It rises there above the head of the Venus Glacier .
The British geographer Derek Searle from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a mapping in 1960 using aerial photographs taken by the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1961 based on the naming of the Uranus glacier after Umbriel , one of the five large moons of the planet Uranus.
