Moyry Castle

Moyry Castle ( Irish Bealach an Mhaighre ) is a castle in County Armagh in Northern Ireland . Charles Blount, 1st Earl of Devonshire and 8th Baron Mountjoy had it built in 1601 to secure the Moyry Pass ( Bealach an Mhaighre , the Gap to the North ). A small rectangular residential tower with three storeys sits at the corner of a small Bawn ( curtain wall ).

Moyry Castle is a State Care Historic Monument in Town Country of Carrick Broad in District Newry, Morne and Down .
