Muzi Mei ( Chinese  木子美 , Pinyin Muzǐměi , Jyutping Muk 6 zi 2 mei 5 , also " Mùzǐ Měi " or " Mu Zimei " or " Mu Zi Mei " or " Muzimei "; * December 3, 1978 , born as 李麗  /  李丽 , Lǐ Lì , Jyutping Lei 5 Lai 6 ) is the pseudonym of a journalist and blogger from Guangzhou , People's Republic of China . Her blog contains frank accounts of her sexual encounters with various men, making it a pioneer in China. Her real name is Li Li ( 李麗  /  李丽 ), her pseudonym arises from the two characters Mu ( ) and Zi ( ), which in the form mù zǐ lǐ ( 木子 李 ) her surname Li ( ) in Chinese ) by specifying the characters it contains. So the character Mu ( ) plus the character Zi ( ) result in the character Li ( ), your family name. Mei ( ) and her first name Li ( / ) are synonyms ; both mean beautiful .

In 2003 she was the subject of heated discussion in the press, forums and chat rooms across China, and was even featured in articles in the New York Times and Washington Post and other international media. Her name was often mentioned along with that of Tang Jiali , a dancer who became the first Chinese woman to publish a book of nude photographs of herself. This reflects a partial liberalization of restrictions on sexual content and nudity in Chinese media that began in 2003.

Parts of her blog were translated into French in 2006 and published under the title Journal sexuel d´une jeune Chinoise sur le net . A German translation was published in 2007 as Mein intimes Tagebuch (Aufbau-Verlag).
