Livio Muzi Falconi

Livio Muzi Falconi (* 1. September 1936 in Oslo ) is a Italian diplomat in retirement .

He is the son of Marion Barton and Baron Filippo Muzi Falconi. On January 11, 1960, he married Marina Chantre, daughter of Charles Chantre.

Education

On November 28, 1959, he graduated from the University of Genoa with a degree in political science .

Career

On August 31, 1960 he joined the foreign service and was employed in Department 3 Migration. From July 3, 1961 he was employed in Department 1 Politics. From March 2, 1962 to October 2, 1963, he was on leave in order to do his military service. On July 18, 1962, he was appointed Secretary of the Third Class. On July 20, 1962, he was made a second lieutenant in the Italian Air Force. On July 19, 1963, he was appointed Secretary of the Second Class. On October 18, 1963, he was appointed Vice Consul in Buenos Aires . On November 1, 1967, he was appointed Secretary of the First Class Embassy in Madrid . From February 19, 1970 he was again employed in the Migration Department, where he was appointed Legation Councilor on December 1, 1970, from June 15, 1971, worked as an assistant and on July 14, 1971, he became office manager. From October 6, 1972 to January 1, 1976 he was Counselor in London. From January 25, 1977 to May 16, 1979 he had exequatur as consul general in Addis Ababa . From February 6, 1983 to January 29, 1988, he was ambassador in Lagos , and at the same time accredited to Porto-Novo (Benin).

In 1986 he was accepted as a Grand Officer in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic . From January 29, 1988 to January 16, 1992 he was envoy to London . From August 3, 1992 to October 24, 1992, he was the speaking envoy in Department 5. On October 24, 1992, he became Deputy Chief of Protocol. In addition to his role at the UN Headquarters in New York City, he was appointed Chief of Protocol on June 15, 1995. On December 15, 1997, he returned to Rome. On July 1, 1998, he became chairman of the Italian delegation during the Italian Presidency of the Western European Union , with the right to speak directly to the Chief of Protocol in his position as head of the Italian delegation for the organization of the presidency of the North Atlantic Council . On February 1, 1999, he was head of the delegation for the organization of the Central European Initiative . In 2000 he was head of the task force for the Jubilee Year 2000. On March 24, 2000, he was appointed Ministre plénipotentiaire by the 85 presidential decree of 2000 . On January 20, 2003, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Historical Service, Archives and Documentation. He was retired on October 1, 2003 .
