Muhammad Jamalul Alam I was the 20th Sultan of Brunei from April to November 1804. He ascended the throne after the voluntary abdication of his father, Muhammad Tajuddin .

Muhammad Jamalul Alam was the son of Sultan Muhammad Tajuddin and his first wife, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Bulan binti Pengiran Di-Gadong Sahibul Mal Pengiran Anak Abdul. He married his first half-cousin, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Nuralam binti Sultan Muhammad Kanzul Alam . With her he had the son Omar Ali Saifuddin , the later sultan, and a princess, Pengiran Anak Putri , who was married to Abdul Momin , the 24th Sultan of Brunei. With his second wife, Ampuan Mariam , he had the son Pengiran Di-Gadong Sahibul Mal Pengiran Anak Muhammad Tajuddin .

Muhammad Jamalul Alam I died in November 1804 after a brief reign of seven months. He was buried in the Kubah Makam Di Raja , Bandar Seri Begawan . His father, Muhammad Tajuddin, succeeded the throne again as ruler, as the heir, Omar Ali Saifuddin II , was not of legal age at that time.
