Muhammad al-Bissati
Muhammad al-Bissati (* 1937 in Gamalija near Port Said ; † July 14, 2012 ) was an Egyptian writer .
Life
After studying economics, al-Bissati worked for many years as a state auditor. He lives as a writer in Cairo . His literary work includes eleven novels and eight collections of short stories. Houses behind the trees is his first novel in German translation. There are also other narratives in anthologies from Arabic literature.
For all of his narrative work, Muhammad al-Bissati was awarded the Sultan Uwaiss Prize , the “Arab Nobel Prize”, awarded in Dubai in 2000.
