The Ottoman magazine Muharrir ( Ottoman محرر İA Muḥarrir , German 'author' ) appeared in 8 issues from 1876 to 1878 in Istanbul.
The editor was Ebüzziya Tevfik (1848-1913), a member of the Young Ottomans (a predecessor movement of the Young Turks ), which also included the journalists and writers İbrahim Şinasi , Namık Kemal and Ziya Paşa . Ebüzziya published the political newspapers İbret (1872), Hadika (1872) and Sirac (1873) as well as the literary journals Cüzdan and Mecmua-i Ebüzziya (1880-1912). Muharrir was also a literary rather than a political organ. Due to his journalistic and political activities, Ebüzziya fled into exile to Rhodes and Konya for a few years and during this time handed over the management of the magazine to Sami Frashëri (1850-1904). After the death of Sultan Abdülaziz , he returned to Istanbul and founded a publishing house that published the works of well-known writers such as Namık Kemal, Ziya Paşa , İbrahim Şinasi, Ahmet Rasim , Recaizade Ekrem and Muallim Naci .
