Muiñeira

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Muiñeira is a Celtiberian dance in a 6/8 rhythm, more precisely it comes from northern Spain and northern Portugal .

Its character is syncopated, sometimes dotted and with a little imagination reminds of the jig ( jig ), although this dance is not a jig, but a separate dance form. The muiñeira is often played with the gaita , a Spanish bagpipe , but also with instruments that are known throughout the session scene around Celtic music, such as fiddle , whistle , bouzouki , cister , concertina .

A traditional banda consists of a gaita , a bomba ( bass drum ) and a tamburil (Galician drum ). The muiñeira is danced very complex.
