The Mullach Fraoch-choire is a 1102 meter high mountain in the Scottish Highlands . The Gaelic name of the summit, classified as Munro , means mountain of the Heidekar . It is part of a mountain range between Glen Affric and Loch Cluanie , which has a total of five Munros. Four of these peaks, apart from the Mullach Fraoch-choire of the A 'Chràlaig , the Sgùrr nan Conbhairean and the Sail Chaorainn , are known as the Cluanie Horseshoe or South Affric Horseshoe , as they are connected by a common ridge that opens to the north in a horseshoe shape. The Mullach Fraoch-choire represents the northwest corner point of the horseshoe. To the northeast, the mountain runs out into a 1047 meter high pre-summit, while the northwest ridge gently descends into the Glen Affric. To the west the mountain drops steeply into a valley that drains from Allt a 'Chomhlain to the north and from An Caorann Mor to the south . It separates the Cluanie Horseshoe from the Five Sisters of Kintail to the west .

The summit can be reached from the south, where the Hotel Cluanie Inn on the A87 is the starting point. The ascent is usually combined with the path to the A 'Chràlaig to the south, but the rocky ridge between the two peaks requires climbing over several pinnacles and is partially exposed . From the north, the mountain can be climbed from Glen Affric, although the Alltbeithe Youth Hostel, which is only accessible on foot, serves as the starting point due to the great distance to the nearest public road west of Cannich .
