Mulliner Book

The Mulliner Book is a historically valuable collection of pieces for organ or other keyboard instruments . The pieces were likely collected between 1545 and 1570 by Thomas Mulliner, only known to be the organist of Corpus Christi College , Oxford.

The book has been in the British Museum in London since 1877 .

The book is a collection of 121 pieces. More than half of them are based on Catholic mass chants, the rest are arrangements of songs or two dances. One of the most famous pieces is likely to be La Bounette . Nine of the pieces are written for the cister . Sixteen composers are known by name, including Thomas Tallis (18 pieces), John Redford (35 pieces), William Blitheman (15 pieces), John Taverner (1 piece) and Christopher Tye (2 pieces). Nineteen pieces are anonymous.
