Carlos Carmona (composer)

Carlos Carmona (* 1960 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine composer , guitarist and conductor .

After self-taught beginnings, Carmona learned classical guitar with Alicia Vénere and Lucio Nuñez . He then studied composition with Rodolfo Daluisio , harmony with Roque de Pedro and Sebastián Piana, and Argentine music with Hilda Herrera .

This was followed by a study of electroacoustic music at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes . His teachers included María Teresa Luengo , Pablo Dislicia , Oscar Edelstein and Carmelo Saita (composition), Edgardo Palotta (orchestration), Gabriel Colautti (music analysis) and Aitana Kasulin , Sebastián Gómez and Lita Corrado (harmony and counterpoint).

He trained as a conductor between 2007 and 2009 with Sergio Feferovich , Saul Zaks and Jorge Gabriel Fontenla .

The world premiere of his "Liturgical Suite" for guitar, voice and chamber orchestra Yupanquiana was a great success . The work, based on texts by Atahualpa Yupanqui , was broadcast as a tribute to the artist by Radio Nacional 2002 and broadcast live internationally by RAE (radiodifusión argentina al exterior). It was performed in the Clásica Joven cycle by the Orquesta de Cámara Juvenil de Buenos Aires under the direction of Alejandro Beraldi with the soloists Sergio Moldavsky (guitar), Patricia Neme (mezzo-soprano) and Jorge Contegni (tenor) at the Teatro Colón .
