Maria Teresa Luengo

María Teresa Luengo (born November 25, 1940 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine composer .

Luengo studied musicology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina "Santa María de los Buenos Ayres" until 1969. Her teachers were Alberto Ginastera , Luis Gianneo , Juan Francisco Giacobbe , Roberto Caamaño and Gerardo Gandini . With a composition scholarship, she continued her education in 1973 at the Centro de Investigación en Comunicación Masiva, Arte y Tecnología of the City of Buenos Aires with Francisco Kröpfl (electroacoustic music), Gerardo Gandini (technology), Fernando von Reichenbach and Gabriel Brnčić (music laboratory) and was an assistant in the composition classes of Peter Maxwell Davies .

In 1976 she took part in the ExpoMúsica 76 of the Centro de Arte y Comunicación (CAYC) with two compositions . In 1978 she attended a one-year seminar on contemporary music by the composer Gandini organized by the Goethe Institute . Here she composed the orchestral piece El libro de los espejos , which was performed under Gandini's direction.

1974 to 1975 Luengo taught character studies of music at the School for Music Therapy of the Universidad de Salvador . From 1975 to 1977 and again from 1989 she taught contemporary music at the Universidad Católica. In 1984 she received the Chair of Composition at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata . In 1990 she designed the curriculum for electroacoustic composition for the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes , where she held the chair of composition.
