Gabriel Brnčić

Gabriel Brnčić Isaza (born February 16, 1942 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean composer of Croatian descent.

Life

Brnčić studied in Santiago and at the Centro Latinoamericano de Altos Estudios Musicales (CLAEM) in Buenos Aires . Well-known composers such as Cristóbal Halffter , Maurice Le Roux , Luigi Nono , Roger Sessions , Iannis Xenakis and Francisco Kröpfl were among his teachers. Since 1967 he has been a teacher for electronic studies at CLAEM. In 1971 he became director of the Buenos Aires Electronic Music Studio . In 1975 he moved to Spain .

Brnčić mainly composes instrumental music of various groups. His works include an octet for trumpets , horns , trombones and tubas , a piece for nine percussion instruments and electronic sounds, a kaleidoscope for oboe , chamber orchestra and percussion, ritmus for percussion instruments and vibraphone , quodlibets for chamber orchestra, but also a cantata for choir, string - and percussion orchestras and electronic sounds.
