Munich Thunder was a football team that competed in the Football League of Europe (FLE) in 1994 . The Munich team was newly founded for the FLE.
The head coach was John Rosenberg , Joe Paterno's assistant coach at Penn State University for twelve years . The Munich games were played in the stadium on Grünwalder Straße . Thunder existed for only one year, because after the premiere season in 1994, the team withdrew from the Football League of Europe and should be replaced by the Bavarian Blue Falcons. The coach Rosenberg moved to the Bundesliga for the Berlin Adlers in 1995 .
Well-known college players like the QB of Notre Dame Fighting Irish Tony Rice and the RB of Florida State Tiger McMillan played at Munich Thunder .
