Sheikh Munira al-Qubeysi ( Arabic منيرة القبيسيborn 1933 in Damascus ) is the founder and leader of the Qubeysi movement ( Arabic قبيسيات), a quasi- Sufi movement in Syria that only has female members. It is the largest all-women Islamic movement in the world. Islamic education is offered exclusively to girls and women. Qubaysi runs around 80 schools in Damascus alone, with 75,000 students enrolled. She is considered one of the most important Islamic personalities and most influential Muslim women. Her movement focuses on memorizing the Quran and the six collections of hadith ( al-Kutub as-sitta ).
