Murata Akira

Murata Akira ( Japanese 村田 昭 ; born March 25, 1921 in the district of Higashiyama , Kyōto ; † February 3, 2006 in Kyoto) was a Japanese entrepreneur.

Life

Murata founded the company Murata Seisakusho (English Murata Manufacturing Co.) in Kyoto in 1944 , which was registered in 1950 as a joint stock company (English Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. ). From 1950 to 1991 he was president ( shachō ) and managing director of the company, from 1991 chairman ( kaichō , English chairman ) and managing director, since 1995 he was honorary chairman ( meiyo-kaichō ).

In 1980 he was awarded the Japanese Medal of Honor with a blue ribbon , the Order Ranju Hosho. In 1986 he was awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit, First Class . In 1993 he received the Japanese Order of the Sacred Treasure with gold and silver stars (Kun-ni-to Zuihosho).
