Murciélago

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Murciélago [ muɾˈθjelaɰo ] ( Spanish for "bat") is the name of a fighting bull . The fighting bull Murciélago was bred by Joaquín del Val de Navarra.

During a legendary bullfight on October 5, 1879 in the Plaza de Toros de los Tejares arena in Córdoba , Murciélago was wounded with 24 lances and then by the matador Rafael Molina Sánchez, known as " Lagartijo " (lizard), in the final (3rd) act of the fight not killed. The bull was pardoned at the request of the public. Then Murciélago was bought by the breeder Antonio Miura, who founded a new breeding line with this bull. Miura let Murciélago cover 70 cows. The Miura bulls, which are still used today in Spanish arenas, almost all come from this breed line.

The sports cars Murciélago , Miura and Islero from Lamborghini were named after this bull, the breeder and animals from this breed. The bull is also shown in the company coat of arms.
