Muriel Diallo (born May 19, 1967 in Boundiali ) is an Ivorian writer , children's book author and occasionally storyteller . As a painter and illustrator , she has exhibited her work in many African galleries.

Life

After graduating from school, university and art school in Abidjan, Diallo taught fine arts in secondary schools in the Ivory Coast for several years . Her first story was published in 1998. Her youth books are written in French and are often illustrated by Diallo himself. In 2001 she became a storyteller, driven by the joy of storytelling.

In 2003 she tried to continue her work under the difficult conditions of the civil war in the Ivory Coast , but decided to move to Paris around 2007, where she has lived, painted, illustrated and worked as a storyteller ever since. There it is part of the “Charter of Authors and Illustrators for Young People in France”. She is committed to helping young people promote literature and get them to accept differences.

Awards and honors

As a writer, she has won several prizes: the special price for manuscripts in the children's book competition of the Editions CEDA Editions CEDA (1988) and the Ivorian first prize in the ACCT competition for children's literature (1992). “Le Peintre mauditre” was selected in 2000 for the Prix Saint-Exupéry. In 2012 she was again awarded the Prix Saint-Exupéry in the "Francophonie" category.
