Murray and Roberts is a South African conglomerate with operations in the energy and water, oil and gas and underground mining sectors . The company was founded in 1902 and initially operated in the simple construction business. In the following years the focus was increasingly on EPC orders for industry. Murray and Roberts has been listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange since 1951 , the largest single shareholder is the German investment company Aton with a share of 43.8%. In the 2000s, the company grew rapidly on an international level. Major projects with the participation of Murray and Roberts were or are the construction of the Cape Town Stadium , the construction of the Medupi coal-fired power station and the establishment of the Gautrain rail network.
