history

Murray Hill in New Jersey was founded and named by Carl H. Schultz . He was a big deal in bottled water - originally on Murray Hill , Manhattan on First Avenue and 25th and 26th Streets . He had finally bought a large piece of land in New Jersey in the 1880s, where he built a home for his family as well as some comfortable houses for his employees. After Schultz moved here from Murray Hill in Manhattan, he decided to use the name for this area in New Jersey as well. His children built their houses in the vicinity of his estate, although only a few of the original Victorian houses have survived today.

But there is another explanation for how the area got the name "Murray Hill": Before moving to New Jersey in 1941, Bell Laboratories was in Murray Hill, Manhattan. But even after the move, their workers continued to speak of "Murray Hill Bell Labs" and are said to have given the area its new name.

economy

CR Bard, Inc. , a company specializing in the manufacture of surgical instruments, is located in Murray Hill , the US headquarters of Linde AG and the longstanding headquarters of Bell Laboratories (now part of Nokia ).
